When it comes to describing the extraordinary career of Bernadette Peters, the question to ask isn’t what’s she done—it’s what hasn’t she done?

Since the multifaceted entertainer began acting in elementary school more than six decades ago, her presence in the American culture has been constant. She has appeared on The Ed Sullivan Show and in 11 episodes of television with comedy legend Carol Burnett. She’s bantered with Miss Piggy and Kermit the Frog on The Muppet Show (which earned her one of her several Emmy nominations) and starred alongside Steve Martin in The Jerk. She paired up with a wicked Tim Curry in the movie version of the children’s classic Annie. Name a beloved or groundbreaking television series—Will & Grace, Ally McBeal, Law & Order, Grey’s Anatomy—and there’s a good chance Peters has made a guest appearance in it.

But Peters is perhaps most acclaimed for the Tony Award-winning musical prowess she displays on the Broadway stage, particularly her collaborations with the composer Stephen Sondheim, who once called Peters “flawless.”

The flawless performer will be taking the stage on September 19 for An Evening with Bernadette Peters, kicking off the Hylton Center’s superb new season and giving audiences a taste of all the dazzling arts offerings to come in the months ahead!

Individual tickets go on sale August 4! Find the details about Peters’s performance and a schedule of all the Hylton Center’s exciting upcoming events on our website.
