Title: Membership Coordinator

What do you do at the Hylton Center? My primary role is to act as the liaison to the Friends of the Hylton Center and Center for the Arts. In addition, I work with Loza [Teodros](Development Operations Assistant) to plan member events throughout the year!

What do you do when you’re not at the Hylton Center? I coach and choreograph for several high school and college color guards in Virginia! In my free time, I love to cook and bake for my family and friends.

Favorite artistic experience? I have two! The first one is any time my color guard students perform, because watching them perform is always a gift. The second is my college recital because I was able to premiere a piece for viola and trombone.

Favorite part about working at the Hylton Center? Genuinely, the people. My coworkers at the Hylton Center truly love what they are doing and it makes every day a treat!

Title: Development Operations Assistant

What do you do at the Hylton Center? I assist the Development team with event planning tasks, event-related communications, and other tasks as needed. I also help to set up the Friends of the Hylton Center hospitality areas at Hylton Presents performances.

What do you do when you’re not at the Hylton Center? I am probably at a concert (or wishing I was at one). It’s also very likely that I am at home with my cat, reading a book or doing a crossword. I am also working on my Master’s in Arts Management here at Mason, so many of my afternoons and evenings are spent in class or completing assignments.

Favorite artistic experience? My favorite artistic experience, although it’s been a while, was attending the National High School Dance Festival in 2018 with my fellow Colgan High School dancers. It was four days of masterclasses, discussions, and performance opportunities, and the experience confirmed that I wanted the arts to be a part of my career in some form.

Favorite part about working at the Hylton Center? My favorite part about working at the Hylton Center is all the wonderful people I’ve gotten to know over the past few months! Everybody—including staff, volunteers, and patrons—has been so kind and shown me how special this place and this community is.

Title: Development Associate

What do you do at the Hylton Center? I provide administrative support to all aspects of the Hylton Center Development team, handle gift processing for any gift that comes in, and assist with donor relations.

What do you do when you’re not at the Hylton Center? I’m a professional contemporary dancer in the DMV-area and perform regularly with the company GRIDLOCK Dance. Additionally, I am working on my Master’s in Arts Management at George Mason University. If I am not at rehearsal, school, or work, I love watching movies and keeping up with any TV show on HBO.

Favorite artistic experience? I was in the premiere of an evening-length dance work by Britta Joy Peterson called “And Now, Hold Me” in January of 2021 that was the culmination of almost four years of research, rehearsal, and growth. It was such a personally fulfilling work, and it was so much fun to dance.

Favorite part about working at the Hylton Center? Every person I have met—colleague, patron, and donor alike—has been so kind, so helpful, and so passionate about the mission of the Hylton Center. It makes me excited to go to work every day and makes me want to be a part of furthering that mission.
