MANASSAS, Va., Feb. 2, 2012 – Just in time for St. Patrick’s Day, the creators of the dazzling hit show “Gaelforce Dance” bring their new spectacular, Celtic Nights: “Journey of Hope” to the Hylton Performing Arts Center in Manassas on Friday, March 16, 2012 at 8 p.m. and Saturday, March 17, 2012 at 8 p.m. This stunning performance is a tribute to the brave souls who journeyed from their homeland in Ireland to America, experiencing struggles and triumphs along the way. This performance is Family Friendly: tickets are half price for youth through grade 12 when accompanied by an adult. A pre-performance discussion will be held one hour prior to the performance in the Hylton Center’s Buchanan Partners Art Gallery. Novant Health is the 2011-12 Season Sponsor of Hylton Presents at the Hylton Performing Arts Center.

In this original show direct from Ireland, six of the finest male and female voices of the Celtic world are showcased against an astounding backdrop of skilled dancing and musicianship to tell the epic tale of a determined and passionate people who dared to leave their beloved homeland behind with hopes of finding a better life in a new land. Audiences will be transported through time with gorgeous Celtic ballads and lighthearted tunes, fiery fiddle playing and traditional step dancing performed by a talented cast of artists who have found acclaim in the British Isles and abroad. This stellar performance will be enhanced by striking costumes and vivid imagery.

In addition to honoring Ireland’s rich cultural heritage, the show will also highlight the profound influence Irish culture has had on the development of American musical genres from bluegrass and Appalachian music to country and western to the music of the American Civil War. The program will feature many Irish favorites we all know and love, such as “Danny Boy,” “Isle of Hope,” “Galway Bay,” “Isle of Innisfree,” “My Love is in America” and “May We Never Have to Say Goodbye,” as well as incredible jigs, reels, hornpipes and polkas performed by six talented dancers.
