Hylton Presents:

Tango Buenos Aires: Song of Eva Perón

  • March 8, 2015 at 4:00 pm

Merchant Hall

This captivating new performance shares the story of one of Argentina’s most important and compelling historical figures, Eva Perón. This masterful ensemble of dancers, singers, and musicians use the art of tango to tell the bigger-than-life story of Evita: her dizzying ascent from an impoverished childhood in the slums to a successful career in radio and film, culminating as the celebrated First Lady of Argentina. Tango Buenos Aires, one of Argentina’s greatest cultural exports, is celebrated for its impeccable technique, dramatic flourish, unbridled passion, and, above all, authentic interpretations of the tango. Tango was born in the late 19th century in dance halls and brothels, before becoming a dance sensation that captured the attention of European high society. It is still embraced today as one of the most popular and seductive dance styles in the world. “Swirling, fast-paced tapestries of movement.” (The Washington Post)
