Natalie MacMaster: Christmas in Cape Breton

  • December 7, 2012 at 8:00 pm

Merchant Hall

Grammy-nominated fiddler Natalie MacMaster takes a musical sleigh ride through Nova Scotia in this spirited holiday performance. Her delightful Christmas show features Christmas carols, traditional and contemporary Celtic melodies, as well as her own signature hits, which she performs with her now legendary fiddling and explosive step-dancing. “To call MacMaster the most dynamic performer in Celtic music today is high praise, but it doesn’t get at just how remarkable this Cape Breton Island fiddler has become.” (Boston Herald) This virtuoso artist first picked up a fiddle at age 9 and has since become a musical tour-de-force, captivating audiences across the globe with her unique blend of genres from Celtic, bluegrass, and folk to jazz, rock, and classical music. Her many collaborators include such notable artists as Alison Krauss, Paul Simon, Pavarotti, and the Chieftains. “MacMaster’s a ball of fire, performing jigs and reels with unstoppable energy and ballads with irresistible, keening passion.” (Los Angeles Times)

The Hylton Center Holiday Series is generously funded by Prince William County.
